CPR and First-Aid

It's here!!!! The last three days Coach Wagenknecht's classes have been practicing CPR and First-Aid. For those that don't know, I was awarded a grant to get CPR dummies in class so our students can learn and practice life-saving techniques. We learned how to approach an accident scene (Check-Call-Care), how to treat a variety of common injuries, and how to properly perform CPR. The week culminated with hands-on CPR training using our brand new dummies!!!

Each student was also given a handout with the three steps of CPR for infants, children and adults that I encourage you to keep around the house in a readily accessible place. I also gave them a small packet on accident prevention, developing an emergency plan and First-Aid basics. Please look over that with your son and keep that handy as well. Let me know if you have any questions or would like more information on CPR/First-Aid.

Thanks again for all you do and check out the pictures below...

Dr. Lindsey Reinhardt

Today in Coach Wagenknecht's health class we had Dr. Lindsey Reinhardt, DMD, MS in to speak with us about the importance of oral health and oral hygiene. Students learned how a cavity is formed, how to brush their teeth, how to care for your teeth and what happens if you don't take care of your teeth. We saw the negative effects of what soda, acid and sugar do to our teeth.

Each student left class with a "goodie" bag provided by Dr. Lindsey that contained a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and some more info about their oral health. If you have any questions, please contact myself or Dr. Lindsey (her contact info can be found in the goodie bag).

Get those kids brushing!!!!
