Reminder about 60 Minute Activity Log

As a reminder, the 60 minute activity logs start this week. Students need to exercise at least 60 minutes a day, 5 days a week. The logs will be turned in every Monday (or the first day of the week) for points towards their grade. I have re-posted the details of the program below and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Last year we began rewriting the curriculum for the PE department based on new state standards.  For the most part the changes were minor and they were all changes for the better and will help the PE department continue to deliver top level instruction to our students.  The biggest change is that students are required to exercise for at least 60 minutes, five times a week.

Starting the week of September 6th the students will begin to log their exercise for the week, here are some key points:

1. PE time will count for the day so if we exercise for 45 minutes in class the students need to exercise another 15 minutes after school.

2. All sports and clubs that exercise count as time.

3. We are very open to what the student does for exercise, if they are unsure if the activity will count they should speak to their PE coach to see if the activity qualifies.

4. The students will receive and return their logs every Monday or the first day of the week.

5. If the school week is four days the students only need to exercise for four days on their log.

6. Weekend time counts for one of the five days i.e. if your child has two soccer games that go for 60 minutes then that time will count for one of the five days.

7. You can not "bank " time.

If you have any questions please contact your child's PE coach. We are excited about this opportunity to extend activity outside of PE class.
