The Final Test...the MILE!!!

Students are running the mile today in coach Hilton's class. They are doing an amazing job. So far the 6th graders are improving their first quarter time by almost two minutes in most cases. I am very proud and its great to see all their hard work pay off. check back for top times and more details regarding improvement.

Thrive Talks About Good Choices


Thrive has been in Coach Hilton and Onder's classes doing a great job of talking to middle schoolers 
about abstinence. They have also been discussing the dangers of STD's and STI's. The students have been really engaged and have been learning a lot.

Dealing with Stress!

Ms. Gina came to the Health room and spoke, to Coach Wilder's class, on the topic of STRESS!
She addressed the causes of stress and more importantly gave the guys some strategies on relieving it.



Plank and Shuttle Run


Today Coach Hilton's class will be testing the plank and the shuttle run. The plank test core strength by having the students hold the plank position for as long as they can. The shuttle run is a test of speed, the students run 3 ft, pick up an object then run back 30 ft and set the object down. The runner then repeats the process and his time is recorded. Here are some highlights:

Sit and Reach and Pull Up Testing

Today the guys are testing on sit and reach, which is a test of their core flexibility.  The pull up test is just that, a test of upper body strength. Check back for top performers.

Fitness Testing Week, Pacer Today


This week the students will be completing their 4th quarter fitness testing to see how much their physical fitness has improved. What we are looking for is overall improvement from first quarter. The guys have been working hard and are doing a great job so far. Today we are doing the pacer test. Discussing Issues in Health


Today in coach Hilton's class Ms. Gina stopped by to talk to the students about their perceptions of how prevalent drugs and alcohol are at Sperreng. There were some candid discussions between the students and Ms. Gina about the issue. Ms. Gina and her colleges will use the data gathered from all of the health classes to create better strategies on how to prevent students from starting to use drugs and alcohol.
